"In Gallery O-68 in Velp, the exhibition 'On the Cusp' is on view until16 November. The gallery brings together two related yet clearly distinct artistic approaches. While Lotte Pet examines the body beyond its familiar exterior, Mirjam Pet-Jacobs looks to the edge zones where city, landscape and social traces intersect. Together, the works reveal how both human beings and their environments are in continuous transformation."

On the Cusp at Art Gallery O-68

Artist and daughter Lotte Pet and I have had a most wonderful duo exhibition at this gorgeous art gallery. There has been so much to been seen and experienced, from large oil paintings and mixed media works to micro textile pieces and stop motion videos. The best of all are always the talks with visitors.

Was gibt's Neues? at the TRM, Germany

An interesting and extended review of the exhibition ‘Was gibt’s Neues? Textilkünstlerische Denkanstöße’, Textil- und Rennsportmuseum, Hohenstein-Ernstthal 2025. You can read it in Gudrun Heinze's blog at Bernina. She has kindly given me consent to pick out a few images to share here.
Gudrun has organised and curated this exhibition together with museum leader Marina Palm and, together with the installation team, they have made a wonderful job of the presentation.

Mirjam has filled four large fabric panels, including old mangle cloths, with hand-stitched embroidery, joining different layers together. Here, they resemble the robes of monks or healers. The piece lying on the floor symbolizes vulnerability.

Interview Patchwork Professional - 20th anniversary edition

25-10_PP interview(700)
I'm very honoured to have been invited for an interview in the 20th anniversary edition of Patchwork Professional. This is the third time that they have made room in their magazine to present several of my works and let me tell a bit. It's wonderful to see the list of the other artists, whom I've all met during the past 36 years I've been deeply occupied with textiles, some of them as teachers or lecturers, others as good colleagues. It's so interesting to see where they are now and what they have done the past years. Much to come in the future. Thank you so much Dorothee and many congratulations with the anniversary!

Turnhal - Ellecom - IJsselbiennale NL

On July 6th 2025, Opportunity, one of the IJsselbieniale Nevengeul exhibitions opened in De Turnhal at Ellecom. The hall is huge and very inspiring, so I had been able to make a large work for it, Hold On (160 x 210 cm).
The opening was packed with visitors. During the almost 3 months of the exhibition many visitors came and they all stayed for at least an hour. There was so much to be discovered. When I did my share of stewarding, I had really good talks with some of them.

10th International Mini-textiles Angers 2025

25_Angers_Ensemble(800)Ensemble, 2024, 10 x 10 x 2.5 cm, Mirjam Pet-Jacobs

I'm very honoured that this mini artwork has been selected into the International mini-textiles competition, organised by the Musée Jean-Lurçat et de la Tapisserie Contemporaine in Angers, F.

The 2025 edition marks the 10th anniversary of the first mini-textiles competition held in Angers back in 1993.

The theme of the competition is "Weaving the Future". Artists have been invited to consider this act in a metaphorical way, by imagining a potential future, but also to consider the act from a technical angle, by proposing innovations that are material and formal alike.
My translation of the theme was to reflect on working together (Ensemble) to accomplice more in the future.

The jury has selected 72 works from 424 candidates form 24 nationalities. The max size was 12 x 12 x 12 cm.

The exhibition will be from April 4, 2025 to January 5, 2026 at the Museum Jean-Lurçat, Angers, F, 4 boulevard Arago, Angers. Full price: 6 EUR - Half price: 3 EUR. Free for all from 5-6 pm.

Solo at Velp, NL

25_JendeF_Velp_expo(800)
From April 1st until May 31st, 2025 I have a small solo exhibition at Boekhandel Jansen & de Feijter at my hometown Velp, GLD. The works I'm showing there are from the Time series and from the Mimi - Friendship series. They are a good fit for the delightful bookshop with its cosy coffee corner and pleasant garden, where people can meet up or loose themselves in search of a good book.

QA- Layers & Narratives Horst-NL

25_QA-Horst_Dirkje-Mirjam(1000)Exhibition view, work from Dirkje van der Horst-Beetsma (l), Mirjam Pet-Jacobs (r)

On January 19th a new touring QuiltArt exhibition 'Layers & Narratives' opened in Museum De Kantfabriek, Horst, NL. Art historian, author and art quilt specialist Henk Lijding held the opening speech.
All works are exposed on large white walls with lots of white space and beautiful lighting in a lovely old lace museum. The exhibition is accompanied by a book, showing images of all the presented work as well as inspirational images and personal stories regarding the works. To get the most of the exhibition the book - another limited edition designed by Charlotte Yde - is certainly a must have. Best to take it with you in the exhibition and read the details about each work. A world will open to the visitor. The book is sold at the venues and through our website.
The exhibition will be in Horst until April 27th. Please check the venue list here or on the QuiltArt website.
